I really couldn't understand , why can't you guy see the positive side of our paradize city or a heaven? We have enough medisave to cover our entire life or insurance when we are getting older which we couldn't able to access in our own country. Furthermore, countries like US, UK ,AUS will accept us regardless of our background qualifications nor experiences, you just need to show our only Pink IC.
Don't you see the statstical data that shown by one guy that the data has perfectly indicating that here is a safe, reliable and happy life. You wouldn't need to know about data is being manipultated nor how the data has been taken nor whatever there is any error analysis. The data will perfectly show you that whenever you use SPSS or minitab , or other statistical tools regardless of whatever data you put or data analysis, Ok?
So, please do not stain our image by posting this kind of video.

But don't you guys even put in your mind that at least you would try to support as much as you can to our own society ( mean our country)?

Let me re-post this again here..

"PAP gov claimed Singapore is the first world country. Do you shamelessly compared Singapore with Myanmar which is 3rd world? Why not compare with better country?"

You'll surely know what your own country needs and what you should do if you are Myanmar.
But you also shouldn't choose to stay blind to both good and bad things of the places where you live even it is temporary.

Open your mind and do what you think is right to do for your own country and no need to wait until other people told you so.

If you're already doing something for your country, that's fine and believe me no one is blaming you for that. Understand?

Hi Unsympathetic,

I am living in Australia.

I wish to highlight to you that most people DO NOT pay 40% tax here in Australia.

I for one, earn about A$50K a year and I only got taxed about A$2K a year which is quite low. That's about 4%.
There's tax rebates for everyone here, including low earners.

Only rich people earning more than A$100K a year gets taxed at about 40%.

And for your info, imposing free healthcare for Singapore true blue citizens, is not much of a work if you take into account how rich our government is.

As for the bummers in Australia, there's bound to be bummers in every country. The world isn't perfect. There are bummers in India and Moldova as well.

And what makes you think that the old woman is an individual case on its own? There could be a million of them out there in Singapore, and chances are, you could end up like one of them in the future, when there's no jobs, no healthcare, nothing.

Don't laugh it off, what makes you think you were no different from her situation when she was young?

It is people like you that is making poor people in Singapore suffer, and it is people like you that do not know what living poor is like.

I starved when I was young - my family had no money for 3 meals. Toys? We sometimes go through garbage to find broken toys so that my dad could fix them and let us play. Holidays? The furthest we went as a family was to pulau ubin.

Bro, do you know what the fuck is poor or not? It seems that you are born with a GOLD spoon from young and you have no idea what starvation is like. Good luck to you man. Hopefully your spouse don't get some expensive illness and you don't get retrenched by those cheap china suckers.

Good luck.

By King Greg, at 30/8/09 18:42

"Having spent most of my time in Australia for graduate education, I've got to say that there are definitely more beggars and drunks living in the streets here. They end up living off the dole and getting their asses pissed drunk without working a single moment for it. As a result, the average tax rate here is about 40%."

Wah lau eh, you say "in the streets here" and "tax rate here" which means you must still be in Australia. Since you seem so kan see lang miserable living in Australia right now - COME BACK to Singapore lah! The tax here damn low what.

"Would you rather be subsidising those that choose to do no work and instead rely on welfare which comes out of the average person's wallet? The Asian way of working hard for your living goes out the window. Instead of jumping on the bandwagon over a tragic case and demanding a entire shift in policy, it makes much more sense to tackle and help these unfortunate individuals. Asking and demanding for widespread policy changes such as instituting free healthcare without thinking about the reprecussions of these policies is the reason why there are ministers and governments, they tend to look at the big picture much more than the individual tear-jerking stories."

I donno whether you really "unsympathetic" or not, but I is quite certain you are very clever.

Here we see lao ah mm, so kang kor keoh chwa peh to make a measly few dollar a day, sleeping in the streets, but then you can twist the topic to talk about beggars and drunk who choose to do no work and dependent on welfare.

This is call "misdirection" eh hiao buay? King Greg ang moh no good, but can still understand this sentence - "her late husband's medical bill left her destitude". The whole video where got say that lao ah mm is "drunk" or "beggar" you tell me?

Don't anyhow compare and then say people don't have helicopter view lah. King Greg play politic many year already, he know what going on one.

Unsympathetic,

The homeless in Australia are drunks, drug addicts ..like you said. The homeless in Singapore are sometimes people who worked their whole lives like the one in the video. There are homeless & poor people everywhere - but Singapore is the only place in the 1st world where people have full time jobs and still live in utter poverty due to the big income gap.

Australia so bad why so many Singaporeans migrate there?

Man filmed upskirt, jailed
By Elena Chong

A MYANMAR national who took upskirt photographs of about 20 women with his mobile phone was jailed for 12 weeks on Thursday.

Chit San Maung, 27, pleaded guilty to three counts of intruding into the privacy of women between December last year and January.

He was caught in the act by the husband of a 33-year-old woman at Sun Plaza shopping centre in Sembawang Drive on Jan 11.

He tried to run away but was detained by the couple.

Investigation showed that apart from the upskirt photograph of the victim, Chit's cellphone had similar shots of two other women at unknown locations on Dec 25 and Dec 13.

Eighteen other similar charges were considered during his sentencing.

Pleading for a light sentence, Chit said he was sorry and would not do it again.

He could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined on each charge.

Judging from the fact that many people reading this blog, including the blog owner, couldn't get the obvious meaning of Htun (September 1, 2009 11:19 AM), one could easily understand the intellectual level of this blog owner and audience.

No wonder I saw many senseless and block-headed comments.

First and foremost, Ko Paw need to understand that nobody is asking him to make a living in Singapore. If he don't like how Singapore is being run, he can always vote with his feet. Just get out of this country.

He can choose to stay at what he considered as the best-run country or he can choose to go back to his native to fight the Junta personally.

If not Ko Paw need to understand that every countries and every systems have their own strong and weakness. Singapore and its government system is not perfect. The same goes to those countries which are pointing out weakness of Singapore and its system.

Ko Paw need to understand that in every countries or every systems, one layer of social class will be extremely poor. No government can make everybody happy and rich.

Only in utopia, which Ko Paw strongly believe in, everyone will be happy, healthy and rich.
